New Sponsor for gilby's nitro Funny car!
Gilbertson looking to repeat at IHRA World Finals at Rockingham Dragway CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Nitro Funny Car racer Bob Gilbertson is the defending champion of the IHRA World Finals and he and his Trick Tank.com team are looking to do it again at this weekend's race at Rockingham (NC) Dragway. Gilbertson will also have support from Ron Hammel's 10,000 RPM and Mike Stewart's Mike's Transmissions for the World Finals. At last years World Finals, not only did Gilbertson win the race, but he also set low E.T., top speed, was the No. 1 qualifier and set both ends of the track record for a clean sweep of the season-ending event. "I just can't wait to get back to Rockingham," Gilbertson said from his Charlotte office. "Rockingham Dragway is our home-town track and to win it again in front of all my friends, family and employees who will be there would be a great way to cap off the season." "I'm really happy to have Ron Hammel and Mike Stewart on board for this race," Gilbertson added. "With their help we will have the resources and parts we need to be able to run hard and hopefully get another Iron Man trophy this weekend." Mike Kloeber, who's won more than any other crew chief in IHRA history, will join Gilbertson's team this weekend and he's optimistically confident about the team's chances.

discbrakesrus and HTC Racing were with Gilby at Gatornationals and his Crew Chief Tom (genius) Delago gave us some nitro facts. On gas race engines, the rotating force causes the rods to stretch so the engine builders check to see how much they have stretched and then replace them but on a nitro engine the explosion is so tremendous that the rods shrink!
